No. 1 Plain Combination

Websites from $1,490

A clean, fast website that works on a phone and gets the phone ringing. Up to six pages, quoted to your job and fixed in writing before anything starts.

What's in the bowl

Four things come in every No. 1, and each one has a job.

  • Noodles

    Six pages

Enough room to say everything that matters.

Home, services, about, contact and a couple more, which is what most one-van trades and small shops need. A couple of the extras can be pages for the towns you drive to.

  • Chilli

    Phone first

Built on a phone screen, then stretched up to a laptop.

Text you can read without pinching, buttons a thumb can hit, and pages that load on a bad bar of reception.

  • Lime

Tap to call, form to the point

The phone rings, and the message makes sense.

Your number sits at the top of every page and rings when tapped. The form asks what, where and when, so every enquiry is one you can act on.

  • Sesame

    SEO basics done right

Set up so Google can read you properly.

A title and description on every page, sensible headings, fast pages and a plain line on what you do and where. It is the groundwork and not a promise of a rank, because nobody can promise one.

How your order runs

Every order gets a docket, and the docket moves down the line. All timelines are business days.

ORDER DOCKET · No. 1 Plain Combination · fixed price

  1. Order in

You send the docket and we send a reply by email the same business day. If nothing arrives, ring 0429 109 328.

  2. Price agreed

You get a fixed price in writing that says what is in and what is out, and once you say yes it does not change.

  3. On the stove

Your deposit and your content start the clock, and a small site is usually live in seven business days.

The clock pauses while we are waiting on you. Changes are unlimited within the quote while we build.

  4. Served

You pay the balance, the site goes live, and the site, its source code and the design are yours. Your domain has been in your name since day one.

Business days only. The price on the docket is the price you pay.

Not in this bowl

Not in this bowl, yet.

A No. 1 does one job well: it gets one business found and phoned in the place it works. Businesses that go well do not stay that size. They add a town, add a service or start selling something, and six pages begin to feel small. So here is what No. 1 leaves out, and what each missing piece would let you do.

  • Not in No. 1

Only a couple of town pages

Google leans towards businesses near the person searching, so people in the next town over are far more likely to find you when there is a page for that town. No. 2 has town pages for the areas you work.

  • Not in No. 1

    Six pages run out

If you do eight kinds of job, each one needs its own page to be found when someone searches for it. No. 2 has up to 12 pages, so every service gets a place to land.

  • Not in No. 1

    You write the words

On a No. 1 you supply the words for each page, and we tell you what is missing. On a No. 2 we write the words for you, so a busy week never holds up your launch.

  • Not in No. 1

    No map listing set up

Your Google Business Profile is one of the first things a local customer sees, and setting it up properly is a job of its own. No. 2 includes it*.

  • Not in No. 1

A contact form, not a till

A No. 1 takes enquiries. No. 3 is a No. 2 with an online shop and a real checkout, so people can order while you are asleep.

*Google verifies a profile with someone from the business present, so we set it up with you, in person or remotely, whichever suits you. The conditions are on the terms page.

The count test

Count the towns you work, the services you sell, and whether you sell online. If the count runs past a couple, a No. 2 is the better first order. If it does not, a No. 1 is exactly right.

Not sure which bowl fits? Ring 0429 109 328 and describe the job. We will tell you which one it is, including when that is the No. 1. Start on a No. 1 and step up later: the pages already built carry over, and we quote the difference.

Also outside a No. 1:A logo or brand refresh is quoted separately. Hosting, security updates and small changes come with the optional monthly care plan, quoted alongside the build.

Questions from the counter

How much does a small business website cost in Australia?

A No. 1 from Combination Soup Studio starts from $1,490, and the price is fixed in writing before anything starts. We quote to the job, so what you need decides the final figure. We are not registered for GST, so none is added. Bigger sites and online shops are quoted separately, and you can ask the kitchen.

How long does it take to build a small business website?

A small website is usually live in seven business days, counted from your deposit and your content. The clock pauses while we are waiting on you and restarts the day it comes back. Nothing starts until you have seen a fixed price, so you know the cost before the clock begins.

Who owns my website and domain once it is built?

You do. The site, its source code and the design become yours on final payment, so you can take it anywhere. Your domain is registered in your name, on your email address, from day one, so it is never ours to hold.

Do I need SEO for a small business website?

Every small business website needs the SEO basics, and every No. 1 has them: a title and description on each page, sensible headings, fast pages and a clear line on what you do and where. Ongoing SEO is a bigger job than the basics and is not part of a No. 1. No one can honestly promise a rank.

Can my website cover more than one town, like Batemans Bay and Moruya?

Yes. A No. 1 has room for a couple of town pages, so people searching in the next town can find you. Each page says what you do there. If you work across more towns than that, a No. 2 fits better, with town pages for the areas you work.

Where is the studio, and do you work outside NSW?

We are one person in Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast, and we build websites for businesses anywhere in Australia. Most of the work runs by email and phone, and Google Business Profile setup on a No. 2 or No. 3 is done in person or remotely, whichever suits you. The price is the same in Batemans Bay as it is in Broome.

Is a No. 1 enough for my business?

A No. 1 is enough if you work in one or two places, sell a handful of services and want the phone to ring. If you work across many towns, want the words written for you or want to sell online, a No. 2 or No. 3 will fit better. Tell us the job and we will say which.

What happens if I need changes after the site is live?

While we build, changes are unlimited within what the quote covers. After you sign it off, two changes are included in the first 30 days, and any further change is quoted before we do the work. Hosting, security updates and small changes come with the optional monthly care plan, quoted alongside the build.

Put it on the docket.

Tell the kitchen what you do and where. You'll get a fixed price in writing, and nothing starts until you've said yes.
